Please somebody show me where tighter gun control laws truly reduce the murder rate over time?
I would like someone to take all of the people advocating tighter gun control laws and set up a mock situation where they are facing murder (and worse in some cases) and then ask them – now what do you do? You’re facing one, two, three men who have broken into your home – your kids are in the next room – the police won’t be here for 10 minutes (on average)…what do you do?
The Cato Institute estimates upwards of 100,000 defensive uses of guns per year. Preventing law-abiding citizens from defending themselves can cost far more lives than are lost in the shooting episodes that the media publicize. The lives saved by guns are no less precious, just because the media pay no attention to them.
I just want to take a moment to say that my heartfelt prayers are with the people of Boston today. I cannot express the depth of sorrow in my heart over the loss of life due to the evil act perpetuated yesterday. I offer my support, thoughts, and prayers to the families of the victims, to the survivors, and to all those affected by this tragedy.
When they determine who did this, please do not give the bomber(s) any more acknowledgment than absolutely necessary for historical accuracy. They did this to make a statement, to get their 15 minutes of fame…don’t let them have it. Use generic terms like “bomber”, “criminal”, or “jackass” for that matter, but after mentioning their name once for reporting purposes, drop it. Whoever did this, whatever their “reason”, they don’t deserve the time or the attention.

Again, THIS is fabulous thing. If the government has any business in education, it is allowing for children to receive quality education. School vouchers, school choice may not be the perfect solution, but there is ample proof that the current system does not work. The US continues to pour money into a system that does not work – I’m pretty sure this qualifies as a definition of insanity.

According to John Hopkins University, you have the right to free speech clear up until you hit the campus borders – at that point, your free speech rights dry up if your beliefs contradict the ruling elite. At that point, you are ridiculed, put down, and considered the lowest of all creatures.
Seriously? To compare pro-life students with white supremacists? What gives you the right? How dare you? Whether you agree with them or not, this organization can in no way be compared with people who discriminate against others based upon their skin color.
This is an abuse of power and the tactic of a bully. Congratulations. You certainly know how to make a statement; now do you realize how ridiculous it makes you look?
An SGA senator said “we have the right to protect our students from things that are uncomfortable. Why should people have to defend their beliefs on their way to class?”
Why should people have to defend their rights on your campus?
If we are going to ban groups because they are about “things that are uncomfortable”, then it should apply across the board.
John Hopkins offers a huge variety of organizations for multiple forms of art, science, culture, sports, lifestyle, and religion…so hey, lets ban this one because it makes some students uncomfortable?
You want to be fair? Ban all groups. Then no one will be made uncomfortable. Ban one, ban them all. Otherwise you are the one who can be considered guilty of prejudice.

Hey, you know that whole “her body, her choice” thing? Apparently that is supposed to apply after the baby is outside of her body as well.
Alisa LaPolt Snow, the lobbyist representing the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates, testified that her organization believes the decision to kill an infant who survives a failed abortion should be left up to the woman seeking an abortion and her abortion doctor.
So, in other words, you have a baby, alive and breathing on the table, and the abortionist and the woman should have a conversation on whether or not to let the baby die or to get medical assistance. Is the baby is still supposed to be considered a “thing” at this point? A “clump of cells” that still belongs to the woman? What should we call him or her – a “post-fetus”?
What is wrong with people? The baby, the child is now separate and breathing – if you do not get immediate medical care for this child, you should be arrested. This is murder – and you no longer have any right to try and use the tired argument of “her body, her choice”.
I am pro-life & I think any abortion is murder, but this should be DAMN obvious to any human being with any conscience whatsoever. You don’t discuss whether to leave the baby to die! You call 911 and get help.
